(Sept 4): Uber Technologies has picked a new boss. Dara Khosrowshahi, previously the CEO of Expedia, is taking the helm of an embattled ride- hailing firm with a list of lawsuits and allegations of law-breaking.
While Uber is arguably the most successfully disruptive start-up of the last decade, it has also been a textbook lesson in what not to do to keep your start-up growing. Since its founding in 2009, Uber has bulldozed its way into city after city with little regard for local regulations or culture.
And, in doing so, it has drawn the ire of numerous parties. In London, black cab drivers brought traffic to a standstill last year to protest Transport for London’s failure to regulate Uber.
