(Oct 2): Is Singapore ready to be a Smart Nation? It has relatively good technology infrastructure. Its population is well educated and wealthy. And, it has a government that is trying really hard. But there is just one problem: Some people do not know what the Smart Nation initiative is all about, according to REACH, the government feedback unit.

This might be because of the similar-sounding technology-oriented initiatives that Singapore has pursued in the past. Among other things, it sought to bring everybody online, make Singaporeans infocomm-savvy, produce top infocomm talent and foster the development and growth of the New Economy.

Then, there was the Connected Singapore initiative, which was a re-visioning of the Infocomm21 plan around four main strategies: connectivity, creativity and collaboration; digital exchange; engine of growth; and agent of change.
