EC World REIT started at 'buy' by RHB on China's booming e-commerce and logistics sectors

SINGAPORE (Jan 9): RHB Research is initiating a “buy” call on EC World REIT with a target price of 81 cents.

Currently, the REIT has seven logistics assets in China catering to the thriving e-commerce, logistics and supply chain segment that are well-positioned in future growth segments.

In a Tuesday report, analyst Vijay Natarajan says, “As its properties largely cater for domestic consumption, we see minimal impact from the US-China trade war and could potentially benefit from the Government’s push to boost domestic growth.”

Hi-P earnings estimates slashed by DBS due to margin worries from US-China trade war

SINGAPORE (Aug 2): DBS Vickers Securities is maintaining “hold” on Hi-P International with a lower price target of $1.21 compared to $1.80 previously, after cutting FY18F and FY19F earnings by 23% and 29% respectively to account for lower margins.

The new target price is based on a 30% discount to peers’ average PE of 16 times, versus 20% discount previously, on blended FY18F and FY19F earnings.

Serial System swings back into profitability in 1Q with earnings of $3.8 mil

SINGAPORE (April 28): Serial System has announced earnings of US$2.7 million ($3.8 million) for the first quarter ended March 31, reversing from its loss of US$6.6 million in the same period a year ago as losses from associate companies shrank while allowances for obsolete inventory fell.

This brings the electronic components distributor’s fully diluted earnings per share (EPS) to 30 US cents for 1Q, as compared to a loss per share of 73 US cent in the previous year.

Seize the day with a beaten-down stock in the midst of sector recovery

SINGAPORE (Jan 16): OCBC Investment Research has upgraded its call on Ezion Holdings from “hold” to “buy” with a fair value estimate of 54 cents.

Although it continues to expect a challenging operating environment for energy equipment and services (E&P) investment companies, the research house is suggesting that longer-term investors “look beyond this” and instead, choose “pick up beaten-down stocks whose negatives have been mostly priced in” such as Ezion.
