Samurai 2K Aerosol reports 10.8% fall in FY19 earnings on lower sales volume

SINGAPORE (May 31): Samurai 2K Aerosol reported a 10.8% fall in FY19 earnings to RM10.4 million ($3.4 million) from a year ago.

Full-year revenue fell 19.3% to RM72.6 million due to 3.5 million lower sales volume of 12.3 million cans in FY19.

Although sales in Malaysia and other markets rose by 4.7% in FY19, exports to Indonesia fell by 32.6%, said Samurai 2K Aerosol.

Samurai 2K Aerosol's FY18 earnings surge fivefold to $3.9 mil on higher sales

SINGAPORE (May 28): Samurai 2K Aerosol, the aerosol coating specialist of automotive refinishing, reported FY18 earnings surged fivefold to RM11.7 million ($3.9 million) from RM2.2 million a year ago.

Revenue for FY18 more than doubled to RM90 million from a year ago mainly due to a RM29.65 million increase in revenue from its standard paint segment and a RM20.70 million increase in revenue from its premium paint segment.

Samurai 2K Aerosol awards exclusive distributorship for Cambodian market

SINGAPORE (Dec 6): Samurai 2K Aerosol has appointed a distributor to crack open the Cambodian market.

Samurai 2K Aerosol says wholly-owned subsidiary Orientus Industry Sdn Bhd (OISB) on Wednesday signed a sales and distribution agreement with Genesis GD Sdn Bhd.

Under the agreement, Genesis GD has been granted sole distributorship of the group’s range of products in Cambodia.

The agreement is valid for the period from Dec 6 to March 31, 2019 and will be subject to renewal on a yearly basis.

SINGAPORE (Dec 4): After a stellar performance in its first year as a publicly listed company, spray paint maker Samurai 2K Aerosol is raising more money at a valuation some five times above its IPO price. The Malaysian company, which makes coatings for the automotive industry, was the first to come to market this year and saw its shares jump 25% when it made its Jan 16 debut on Catalist. The company had placed out 20 million shares at 20 cents each, to raise net proceeds of $2.35 million.

SINGAPORE (Nov 27): Samurai 2K Aerosol, the best performing IPO of 2017, is raising money for further growth.

A company that sells spray paints, Samurai 2K Aerosol is placing out 10 million new shares at $1.008 each to raise net proceeds of $9.6 million for business development and expansion. UOB Kay Hian Private has been appointed the placement agent.

Samurai 2k Aerosol sold shares in an IPO at 20 cents each in January, making it the first listing of the year. The stock closed on Monday at $1.12, up 460% since the IPO.

Samurai 2K Aerosol's 1H earnings quadruple to $2.1 mil

SINGAPORE (Nov 10): Samurai 2K Aerosol saw its earnings quadruple to MYR 6.4 million ($2.1 million) for the half-year ended September, from MYR 1.5 million a year ago.

Revenue doubled to MYR 34.5 million in 1H18, from MYR 17.1 million a year ago.

This was on the back of higher revenue due to higher sales volume from its standard paint and premium segments, which grew 105.9% and 111.3%, respectively.

As at end September, cash and cash equivalents stood at MYR 19.6 million.

Samurai 2K Aerosol enters MOU with Cambodia distributor

SINGAPORE (Oct 10): Samurai 2K Aerosol’s wholly-owned subsidiary Orientus Industry has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) and appointed Genesis GD as the sole and exclusive distributor of the group’s line of products in Cambodia.

In a filing on Tuesday, Samurai says it is “definitely eyeing” to tap on Cambodia’s fast growing market.

“We are now enjoying the fruit of our hard work in the emerging markets such as Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and Philippines,” says Samurai Aerosol’s executive director and chief executive officer, Ong Yoke En.

STI closes 0.4% lower at 3,013.12

SINGAPORE (Jan 16): Singapore shares ended in red on Monday in line with the trend in rest of Asia.

The 30-stock Straits Times Index ended 0.4% or 11.95 points lower at 3,013.12.

Volume of shares traded was 2.8 billion valued at $817.4 million. Losers outnumbered gainers 277 to 162.

Shares of Samurai 2K Aerosol up 25% on trading debut open

SINGAPORE (Jan 16): Samurai 2K Aerosol made a strong trading debut on Monday morning with its shares jumping 25% when trading opened.

The share price of the Catalist-listed aerosol coating specialist opened at 25 cents, up from its IPO price of 20 cents.

As at 4.14pm, the counter is trading at 24.5 cents with 5.2 million shares traded.

The first for the Singapore Exchange this year, Samurai 2K's listing brings the total number of companies on the Catalist board to 186, with a combined market capitalisation of $10 billion, SGX said on Monday.
