Singapore’s historic Raffles Hotel reopens after two-year restoration

(Aug 1): An icon of Singapore’s history has been restored and is now open again.

The Raffles Hotel, which first opened in 1887 and was declared a National Monument by the government a century later, reopened today after an extensive renovation that started two and a half years ago, according to a statement from the hotel.

Raffles Hotel to open luxury resort on Sentosa island

(June 25): Singapore’s iconic Raffles Hotel is spreading its wings, planning on opening a luxury resort on Sentosa island.

Accor SA, which owns the brand, is aiming to open the 100,000 square meter hotel in early 2022, it said at a media briefing in the city-state Tuesday. Raffles Sentosa Resort & Spa will house 61 villas with a total maximum occupancy of about 200 people.
