China vows to continue opening financial markets

(Sept 30): China said it would continue to open up its financial markets and encourage foreign investment amid reports the Trump administration is considering restrictions on fund flows to China.

“We will take further steps to promote high-quality, two-way financial opening and encourage foreign financial institutions and funds to invest in the domestic financial market to boost the competitiveness and dynamism of the domestic financial system,” according to a summary from the eighth meeting of the Financial Stability and Development Committee posted on its website Sunday.

CapitaLand's Raffles City Chongqing saw shopper traffic of 900,000 on opening weekend

SINGAPORE (Sept 9): Over 900,000 shoppers visited CapitaLand’s largest Raffles City development, Raffles City Chongqing, during the mall’s opening weekend. 

The mall is the largest to open in Chongqing this year, with about 40% of the 400 international and local brands being new-to-market brands, flagships or new concepts – including C&A, Old Navy and GAP. 

The 235,000 sqm shopping mall was the first component in the 1.12 million sqm megastructure to open its doors to the public on Friday.

Frasers Hospitality's 16th property in China opens today

SINGAPORE (May 18): Frasers Hospitality, a member of Frasers Property Group, announced today the grand opening of Fraser Suites Dalian, the group’s 16th property to open in China.

This came on the back of four other properties that opened in Changsha, Tianjin and Shenzhen last year.
