Keppel to develop first autonomous tug for Singapore waters

SINGAPORE (Apr 9): Keppel Singmarine, a subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M) which is part of the Keppel Group, is set to develop Singapore's first autonomous tug.

The project will involve modifying a 65mt tug by retrofitting advanced systems such as position manoeuvring, digital pilot vision, as well as collision detection and avoidance.

An onshore command centre will also be set up to remotely control the tug.

When the project is completed in 4Q20, the tug will be operated by Keppel Smit Towage.

Keppel O&M secures $300 mil worth of marine contracts through subsidiaries

SINGAPORE (Dec 26): Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M) has secured contracts worth a combined value of $300 million via its wholly-owned subsidiaries, Keppel Singmarine and Keppel Shipyard.

The first contract is by Keppel Singmarine with Shturman Koshelev LLC, for the design and construction of an ice-class LNG bunker vessel built to Keppel O&M’s proprietary MTD 5800V LNG design. It will have an Ice Class Arc 4 notation and a cargo capacity of 5800 sq m.

Keppel to build another two LNG carriers for Stolt-Nielsen worth around $105 mil

SINGAPORE (Oct 7): Keppel Offshore & Marine’s subsidiary Keppel Singmarine has signed two additional contracts with Stolt-Nielsen Gas BV, a subsidiary of Stolt-Nielsen, to build two additional small-scale LNG carriers worth a total of around $105 million.

Three options were granted to Stolt-Nielsen Gas as part of the original contract signed in May 2017 between Keppel Singmarine and Stolt-Nielsen Gas to build two LNG carriers. The first option lapsed in November 2017, while the second and third options have now been exercised by Stolt-Nielsen Gas.

Keppel delivers second LNG-powered vessel to Keppel Smit Towage

SINGAPORE (Sept 17): Keppel Offshore & Marine announced that its specialised shipbuilding arm, Keppel Singmarine, has delivered it second dual-fuel tug capable of running on liquefied natural gas (LNG).

The vessel was built for Maju Maritime, which is merged operationally with Keppel Smit Towage, and named Maju Loyalty.

In a media release issued on Monday, Keppel said that the vessel was completed on time, within budget and with a perfect safe record.

Keppel to build Southeast Asia’s first LNG bunkering vessel valued at $50 mil

SINGAPORE (June 5): Keppel Singmarine, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M), has secured a contract from FueLNG to build Southeast Asia’s first Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) bunkering vessel valued at approximately $50 million.

Scheduled for completion in 3Q20, the dual-fuel LNG bunkering vessel will have a capacity of 7,500 cu m.

The vessel will be built to the MTD 7500U LNG design, a proprietary design of Keppel O&M’s ship design and development arm, Marine Technology Development (MTD).

Keppel Corp reveals Van Oord contracts valued at $212 mil after SGX query

SINGAPORE (May 23): Keppel Corporation revealed Wednesday that the contracts won by Keppel Singmarine to build two high-specification Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers (TSHDs) for Van Oord are valued at approximately $212 million, excluding owner furnished equipment.

The disclosure was in response to a query from Singapore Exchange on Monday, asking the group to reveal the value of the contracts as well as the option for a third vessel.

Keppel had announced the contract wins on May 16, but did not disclose the value of the contracts.

Keppel O&M to build two dredgers for Dutch Van Oord

SINGAPORE (May 16): Keppel Singmarine has secured contracts of undisclosed value from Van Oord to build two high-specification Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers (TSHDs).

The two dredgers are expected to be completed in 4Q20 and 2Q21 respectively. As part of the contracts, Van Oord has an option to order a third dredger to be exercised within one year.

Keppel Singmarine is a subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine, a member of the Keppel Corp group of companies.

Keppel O&M unit wins LNG carriers contract worth $103 mil

SINGAPORE (May 24): Keppel Singmarine, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine, has secured a contract worth $103 million to build two Liquefied Natural Gas carrier vessels for Stolt-Nielsen Gas.

The LNG carriers, which will each have a capacity of 7,500 cubic metres, are expected to be completed in the second and third quarter of 2019, respectively.

Equipped with engines that can run on both diesel and LNG, the carriers will have a class notation for bunkering, which adds to their versatility.

Keppel to build two additional dredgers worth $120 mil for Jan De Nul

SINGAPORE (May 23): Keppel Singmarine, the subsidiary of Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M), has won contracts from Codralux S.A., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Jan De Nul Group, to build two Trailing Suction Hopper Dredgers (TSHDs).

TSHDs are mainly used for dredging loose and soft soils such as sand, gravel, silt or clay. The dredged material can be deposited on the seabed through bottom doors or discharged through a floating pipeline to shore and used for land reclamation. The dredgers are valued at $120 million, including owner-furnished equipment.

Keppel’s $100 mil contract win is ‘small, but a win nonetheless’

SINGAPORE (July 21): UOB Kay Hian is keeping its “hold” call on Keppel Corporation with a target price of $6.40, saying there is “no foreseeable improvement” to the group’s offshore & marine (O&M) business despite its recent contract wins.

This follows Wednesday’s announcement of its wholly-owned subsidiary, Keppel Singmarine, securing $100 million worth of dredger-building contracts from Belgium group Jan De Nul.
