Singapore now the most innovative country outside of Europe

SINGAPORE (July 11): Singapore has moved up two notches to be the fifth most innovative country amongst 126 nations in the Global Innovation Index (GII) 2018 report.

Retaining its top spot as the most innovative country in Asia, the Republic is ranked just behind European innovation powerhouses Switzerland, the Netherlands, Sweden and the United Kingdom.

Co-published by Cornell University, INSEAD and the World Intellectual Property Organisation, the annual GII report compares the innovation performance and capabilities of global economies.

MyRepublic secures $70 mil in funding; to launch MVNO service in 2018

SINGAPORE (Nov 22): Broadband provider MyRepublic has secured a $70 million investment from Makara Innovation Fund to accelerate its growth in current markets as well as scale up product and service offerings.

Makara Innovation Fund (MIF) is a $1 billion private equity fund sponsored by financial services company Makara Capital. It was formed in alliance with the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) to further intellectual property management, monetisation and commercialisation.

IPOS and Deloitte sign MoU to help grow 100 innovative enterprises through IP commercialisation

SINGAPORE (Aug 29): The Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) and Deloitte Southeast Asia Financial Advisory Services have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to help drive the growth of innovative enterprises as well as enhance Singapore’s position as an intellectual property (IP) and innovation hub.

Enterprises in the field of biomedical and healthcare, manufacturing and engineering and deep tech sectors can look forward to receiving a boost to not just grow, but to also scale up and expand into overseas markets.

$1 bil innovation fund to drive growth in IP-strong companies

SINGAPORE (April 26): Innovators and companies in Singapore with strong Intellectual Property (IP) will soon benefit from a slew of new initiatives that will help them translate their ideas into assets.

This includes the launch of a one-billion dollar Makara Innovation Fund (MIF) by the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) and homegrown private equity firm, Makara Capital.
