Hatchbacks are the ‘it’ cars now and the Hyundai i30N is proving to be the hottest choice

(July 15): Everybody loves a hot hatchback. Or, rather, everybody should love them. These pocket rocket cars are so much fun to drive whatever age you are that you need to own at least one in your lifetime. I owned the original hot hatch — the Volkswagen Golf GTI — in the 1990s and it was one of my happiest memories of driving. Since then, most car brands have dabbled in this area with varying success. The latest entrant into the hot hatchback arena is Korean brand Hyundai.


MeGroup awarded Hyundai dealership in Malaysia

SINGAPORE (Apr 16): Catalist-listed MeGroup has been appointed official distributor of Hyundai automobiles in Malaysia by Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors Sdn Bhd.

In its Tuesday filing, MeGroup will be able to operate a Hyundai 3S automobile dealership Bandar Bukit Raja in Klang, Selangor, with the award.

Slated to be fully operational in the second half of the calendar year, the dealership will offer new Hyundai models such as Elantra, Ioniq, Tucson, SantaFe and Starex.

SINGAPORE (Jan 28): To say Patrick Ng is a huge fan of the Hyundai Santa Fe would be an understatement. He has owned every one of the four generations of the popular sport utility vehicle, and rushed out to buy the latest edition when it was recently launched. The Hyundai Santa Fe is the biggest SUV in the Korean carmaker’s brand. It has seven seats and plenty of boot space, with or without the back seats folded down. This spaciousness is a major attraction for Santa Fe owners.

SINGAPORE (Nov 19): Montblanc got it right when it paired digital capabilities and fine watchmaking with the launch of the Summit smartwatch in 2017. This year’s offering, the Summit 2, is built for travel, fitness or exploration, according to Montblanc CEO Nicolas Baretzki. “Summit 2 is a versatile companion created for urban explorers, business travellers and performance seekers looking to push boundaries in everything they do,” he says.


Hyundai reinvests another US$250 mil in Grab

SINGAPORE (Nov 7): Ride-hailing company, Grab, has secured US$250 million ($343.5 million) in investments from South Korean carmaker, Hyundai.

This is Hyundai’s largest external technology investment and 10 times more than its earlier commitment to Grab in Jan 2018.

With the intention to further expand in Singapore, Hyundai will also be providing 200 Hyndai electric vehicles to Grab’s Singapore fleet in 2019. The duo also said that they will launch pilot projects to build electric vehicle-friendly markets across the region.
