ASTI CEO Loh Soon Gnee resigns from group without successor; cites personal reasons

SINGAPORE (April 8): Michael Loh Soon Gnee, who has held the position of ASTI Holdings’ CEO since July 2013, has resigned citing “personal reasons” as he moves on to transition his duties within the next 12 months.

Loh is also resigning as CEO from the group’s respective 44.5%- and 49.6%-owned subsidiaries, Dragon Group International and Advanced Systems Automation.

Both ASTI Holdings and Dragon Group are listed on the Mainboard of the Singapore Exchange, while Advanced Systems is a Catalist-listed firm.

YuuZoo CEO 'forced to quit' as company closes subsidiaries in Singapore, terminates employments

SINGAPORE (Mar 18): The chief operating officer (CEO) and executive director of YuuZoo Networks Group, formerly known as YuuZoo Corporation, resigned effective today.

Known only as Mohandas, the 43-year-old was said to have tendered his resignation on Mar 5, his reason being: “Company unable to continue Singapore operations due to continuing share trading suspension”.

According to Yuuzoo’s announcement on Sunday, Mohandas will continue to serve as a non-executive member of the board.

Jack Ma to step down as Alibaba's chairman in 2019; announces CEO Daniel Zhang as successor

SINGAPORE (Sept 10): Jack Ma today announced his plans to step down as the Chinese e-commerce giant’s board chairman, one year from today on Sept 10, 2019.

In an open letter issued by Ma today to Alibaba’s customers, employees and shareholders, Ma named the company’s CEO Daniel Zhang, who has been with Alibaba for 11 years, as his intended successor.

As part of the handover, Ma says he will continue as an executive chairman of the company over the next twelve months from the effective date to ensure a smooth transition of chairmanship.

UOL appoints Liam Wee Sin to succeed outgoing group CEO Gwee

SINGAPORE (Sept 8): UOL Group says its deputy group CEO, Liam Wee Sin, will be taking over Gwee Lian Kheng’s position as group chief executive starting from Jan 2, 2019.

Gwee, who earlier in June this year announced his intention to retire by end-Jan 2019, will remain a director on the board once Liam’s promotion comes into effect.

In a Friday announcement, the property developer says Liam will be responsible for the overall management of the group in his new role as group CEO.

StarHub appoints former senior executive Peter Kaliaropoulos as new CEO

SINGAPORE (Apr 20): StarHub has appointed former senior executive Peter Kaliaropoulos, 58, as its group CEO from July 9.

Kaliaropoulos will succeed Tan Tong Hai, who will relinquish his appointment as chief executive from May.

Two oil & gas players to 'buy' as Brent crude oil uptrend remains intact

SINGAPORE (Jan 23): DBS Vickers Securities is maintaining its “overweight” stance on the oil and gas (O&G) sector given the recent oil price rally, which has driven up O&G stocks to directly benefit oil majors leading the rally.

In a Tuesday report, lead analyst Suvro Sarkar says the average Brent crude oil price for 2018 could end closer to the higher range of US$60-65 per barrel (/bbl) as forecasted by DBS – a healthy 15-20% improvement over the 2017 average of US$55/bbl.

CEOs optimistic on global economic outlook for 2018, but threats to growth remain

SINGAPORE (Jan 23): A record-breaking 57% of chief executive officers (CEOs) believe global economic growth will improve in the next 12 months, according to the latest data from PricewaterhouseCoopers’ 21st survey of almost 1,300 CEOs around the world.

In a media release on Tuesday, the professional services firm highlights that the latest figure is almost double that of last year (29%), and the largest-ever increase since PwC began surveying business leaders about global growth in 2012.

CMA CGM names Rodolphe Saade as chairman amid industry recovery

SINGAPORE (Nov 27): CMA CGM Group, the world’s third-largest container shipping company, gave Chief Executive Officer Rodolphe Saade the additional role of chairman after the French liner swung to a profit in the third quarter.

Saade, who was appointed CEO in February, will take over from his father, current chairman and founder Jacques Saade, according to an e-mailed statement from the company over the weekend.

Keppel Land CEO Ang Wee Gee resigns

SINGAPORE (Sept 4): Ang Wee Gee, the CEO of Keppel Corporation’s property arm, Keppel Land, has resigned after more than 26 years of service to “pursue other interests” with effect from Dec 31 this year.

While the group is currently evaluating possible candidates to take over Ang’s role at Keppel Land, Keppel Corporation’s CEO, Loh Chin Hua, will be assuming the role of Keppel Land’s Executive Chairman from Jan 1 2018, says the group a press release issued on Sunday.

Gregory N Longstreet appointed new CEO of Del Monte Foods

SINGAPORE (Aug 16): Del Monte Pacific Limited, the consumer food & beverage focused group, has appointed Gregory N Longstreet as the new chief executive officer (CEO) of its US subsidiary, Del Monte Foods (DMFI), with effect from Sept 5.

In a Wednesday filing, the group says Longstreet will be responsible for DMFI’s strategy, business and the overall organisation in his role as CEO.
