Centurion and Sunseap ink 20-year solar power agreement

SINGAPORE (Feb 25): Centurion Corporation and Sunseap Group have signed a 20-year solar power purchase agreement for a workers dormitory in Singapore.

The dormitory – ASPRI-Westlite Papan – is located at Jalan Papan and was built by developer Centurion-Lian Beng (Papan), a joint venture between Centurion and Lian Beng Group.

Under the agreement, Sunseap will be constructing and installing a 170 kilowatt peak solar system on the rooftop of the property. The solar photovoltaic system will help reduce its carbon footprint by a third.

SembMarine inks US$166 mil agreement with Teekay Offshore for works on Petrojarl Varg FPSO

SINGAPORE (Oct 22): Sembcorp Marine says that its wholly-owned subsidiary, Sembcorp Marine Rigs & Floaters, has signed an agreement with Varg, a wholly-owned company of Teekay Offshore Partners, for engineering, procurement and construction works related to the modification, repair and life extension of the Petrojarl Varg FPSO.

The contract, once finalised, is expected to be worth about US$166 million ($229 million).

US & South Korea reach agreement on trade, steel tariffs

SEOUL/WASHINGTON (Mar 26): The US and South Korea reached an agreement on revising the allies’s six-year-old bilateral trade deal and President Donald Trump’s plan to impose tariffs on imported steel, Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said.

Mnuchin said US Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer reached “a very productive understanding” with South Korea on the tariffs to reduce imports and the existing trade deal known as Korus.

MindChamps inks master franchise with Evergrande to open in Vietnam

SINGAPORE (Dec 19): MindChamps PreSchool has signed a master franchise agreement with Vietnam’s Evergrande Group to open 20 of its preschool and reading centres in the country.

The signing was announced today and took place between MindChamps CEO & executive chairman, David Chiem, and Evergrande’s CEO & executive chairman, Pham Tuan Son.

This comes a month after MindChamps announced its intention to launch 10 preschool centres and five reading centres in Myanmar under the MindChamps brand.

Oxley subsidiary acquires land plot in Cambodia for $8.3 mil

SINGAPORE (June 30): Oxley-Worldbridge, the Cambodia-based subsidiary of Oxley Holdings, has purchased a plot of land located on lot 17, Village 14, Sangkat Tonle Basak, Khan Chamkar Morn in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, from Khov Porseang for US$6 million ($8.3 million).

The plot has a freehold tenure with a land area of 1,200 sqm.

In a Friday announcement, Oxley says it intends to use the land for a showroom for its existing project, The Peak, for about three years until the project is completed. It plans to subsequently develop a commercial property on the land plot thereafter.

G7 leaders expect Trump to make Paris accord decision this week

BERLIN/NEW YORK (May 23): World leaders expect President Donald Trump to announce this week whether the US will remain in the landmark Paris climate accord as they gather for the Group of Seven summit, Germany’s environment minister said.

Trump, who has derided global warming as a hoax, will state his decision after arriving Friday for the two-day meeting in Taormina, Italy, Germany’s environment minister Barbara Hendricks, said Monday.

QT Vascular cuts deal to sell its angioplasty balloons to HealthTrust-linked US hospitals

SINGAPORE (Dec 20): QT Vascular says that its subsdisiary TriReme Meidcal LLC has signed an agreement with HealthTrust Purchasing Group, to sell its angioplasty balloons to HealthTrust’s members.

QT Vascular says the agreement will help expand the group's customer base in the US.

HealthTrust, based in Nashville, Tennessee, has over 1,400 members – including hospitals, ambulatory surgery centres, physician practices, long-term care and alternate care sites — in over 22,600 locations.

The agreement is effective from Dec 15.
