SINGAPORE (Nov 17): StarHub announced Friday that it is conducting a global executive search for a new chief executive officer as CEO Tan Tong Hai will step down from his position from May 2018.

“I have achieved what I set out to do for StarHub to grow its enterprise business and I believe it is now the right time for me to step down to pursue my own interests,” says Tan, who will also relinquish his appointment as executive director of the company.

Tan, 54, was appointed as StarHub’s Chief Operating Officer in January 2009, before he was promoted to CEO in March 2013.

“I am confident that the firm foundation that my management team and I have built for StarHub will continue to anchor StarHub’s future success,” he says.

Tan adds that he will work with the StarHub Board in its global executive search to ensure a smooth transition as he passes the baton to the next CEO.

“Under his leadership, StarHub has grown its enterprise business by more than two folds and has struck numerous strategic partnerships with established partners to give StarHub a global presence,” says StarHub Chairman Terry Clontz.

“At StarHub, Tong Hai is known for his pursuit of happiness for staff, shareholders and customers. He has been instrumental in instilling in the company a culture dedicated to delivering strong customer experience,” he adds.

Shares of StarHub closed 5 cents higher at $2.83 on Friday.
