SINGAPORE (Apr 19): ST Engineering announced that its electronics arm, ST Electronics, has secured $635 million worth of contracts in 1Q18.

The contracts include solutions in mobility, satellite communications, Internet of Things (IoT), public safety and security, cybersecurity and defence.

ST Electronics extended its reach and increased market share globally in the rail electronics segment. Notable contract wins included a turnkey project for Sanying MRT line in New Taipei City and rail electronics solutions for Bangkok BTS SkyTrain, Guangzhou Metro Line 3 and Taipei MRT line among others.

In addition, the electronics division is collaborating with Ghalam, an Airbus Defence and Space joint venture based in Kazakhstan, to develop next-generation ground technologies.

ST Electronics also secured smart city management contracts including a sensor network to enable near real-time management of urban water resources and smart street lightning in cities in New Zealand, the UK, Canada, Israel and the US.

On the security front, the group has secured contracts that involve integrated counter-drone systems that detect, classify and track drones for a regional customer as well as sensor network that strengthens incident management and emergency response in Singapore.

On the defence front, contracts delivering capabilities in Command, Control, Communications and Computers (C4), Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV), satcom infrastructure upgrade, network training and ship handling simulation.

The group was also engaged to provide a multi-tenanted On-Premise Cloud Infrastructure that hosts and manages IT services and data assets in an agile, secure, and cost-effective manner.

Shares in ST Engineering closed 2 cents higher at $3.68 on Thursday.
