SINGAPORE (Oct 3): The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested Rosmah Mansor, wife to former Malaysian prime minister Najib Razak.

She will be charged with money laundering on Thursday.

According to The Star Online, Rosmah was arrested earlier today at 3.20pm, while she was giving her statement to the MACC. Today would be the third time the MACC has questioned her.

MACC deputy chief commissioner of operations Datuk Seri Azam Baki confirmed the arrest and told Malaysiakini, "She will be taken to the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court tomorrow to face charges under the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001.”

Najib was also called into the MACC earlier today for questioning.

On June 5, she was questioned by MACC over a probe into SRC International, 1MDB’s former subsidiary. And her second round of questioning was on Sept 26, over 1MDB, which lasted about 13 hours.

According filings lodged by the US Department of Justice (DoJ), Rosmah had misappropriated funds stolen from 1MDB to purchase jewellery worth about US$30 million ($41.5 million).

This amount only represents a fraction of the total of US$4.5 billion that was allegedly misappropriated from 1MDB.
