Interactive murder mystery

The Theatre Practice

Following the success of last year’s interactive murder mystery, The Bride Always Knocks Twice — Killer Secrets, The Theatre Practice rolls out another theatrical adventure that combines theatre, film, and gaming all into one memorable experience.

An innovative partnership between the theatre house and National Gallery Singapore, Gallery of Secrets: The Lost Lily is a multi-platform treasure hunt inspired by the artworks and history of the museum. It will be held from April 4–18.

The production, conducted in English and Mandarin, is available either as a fully digital experience or a physical-digital hybrid, where participants can visit the gallery to search for clues. As a further incentive, the fastest to identify the treasure’s location stands a chance to win real treasure, up to $1,800 cash!

Highlights include an escape room where you have to solve puzzles and riddles; clue-hunting and exploration of the former Supreme Court and City Hall; and a delicious Gallery of Secrets-inspired cocktail at Smoke & Mirrors. Ticket prices start from $28 at www.galleryofsecrets.live.

EAT
Enjoy premium tuna
Maguro Brothers

From the good people who gave us Maguro-Donya and Kuro Maguro comes the new dining concept Maguro Brothers, offering premium sashimi and the best grades of tuna in town. Enjoy everything from otoro (fatty tuna belly) to chutoro (back and stomach) and akami (meaty red tuna), including rarer parts like the head, dorsal, behind the eye and cheek. We recommend the Omakase 7 Cuts Sashimi ($69++) featuring a variety of raw fish.

The secret to the fish’s freshness is the practice of shinkei-jime — a Japanese’s tradition of catching tuna by inserting a spike into the hindbrain to stop the production of lactic acid. The tuna is then kept in a minus-60-degree freezer to maintain its freshness all year round.

Guest bartender in the house

Smoke & Mirrors

Destination rooftop bar Smoke & Mirrors will be handing the bar over to award-winning guest bartender David Hans of Three x Co in a one-night exclusive on April 4 from 6.30pm–9.30pm.

One of Asia’s 50 Best Bars, the Kuala Lumpur-based bar pays homage to speakeasy culture, where you’ll not only find uniquely crafted spirits, but also a curated menu of libations inspired by local flavours designed by Hans himself.

With over 10 years of experience and accolades including Asia’s first World Champion of the Giffard West Cup in 2017, Hans will be offering three specialty drinks: Mr Wong’s Choice ($25), an earthy creation featuring Michter’s Small Batch Bourbon, chrysanthemum Pei Pa Koa, homemade longan liqueur, Fernet and liquorice; Blushing Melon ($24), a refreshingly balanced cocktail with Michter’s Single Barrel Rye, wintermelon tea, elderflower, rosemary and citric; and Dynasty Poem ($25), another refreshingly balanced tipple with a kick of citrus flavours featuring Mitcher’s American, tie guan yin-infused sake, grapefruit, passionfruit, honey and egg white.
