These smart tools will motivate you to stay in top shape. SINGAPORE (May 7): Fitness enthusiasts now have a plethora of gadgets to help track everything, from their steps, distance and heart rate to even everyday functions such as contactless payment and replying to messages. Here are some of the latest fitness gadgets that can double up as chic accessories.
Fitbit Versa
The new Fitbit Versa is the company’s lightest smartwatch to date. It is packed with features such as heart-rate tracking, onscreen workouts, calendar reminders and wallet-free payments. Coupled with a battery life of more than four days, the Versa sits at the intersection of fitness tracker and daily driver.
Samsung Gear Sport
Samsung’s Gear Sport is now water-resistant and tracks your swimming laps, times and strokes. The smartwatch even has automatic activity detection and can recognise activities such as walking, running, cycling, dancing and playing basketball.
Apple Watch 3
The Apple Watch 3 can now track skiing and snowboarding activities as well, tracking metrics such as number of runs, and average and maximum speeds as you carve your way down the slopes. The smartwatch is water-resistant, and has a new barometric altimeter to measure relative elevation in addition to the usual health and daily use features.
Garmin Forerunner 645 Music
Working out is more fun with the Garmin Forerunner 645 Music, which enables you to enjoy your favourite tunes without lugging a phone around. The smartwatch also offers contactless payment to pay on the go, as well as built-in GPS tracking to see how far, fast and where you run, without looking at your phone. The smartwatch has up to seven days of battery life as a watch and up to five hours in GPS mode with music. Garmin also offers a community, Garmin Connect, where users can compete against friends in virtual challenges and earn virtual badges.
