Ermenegildo Zegna’s latest campaign focuses on masculinity

SINGAPORE (Sept 16): Ermenegildo Zegna’s #WhatMakesAMan campaign, which features Mahershala Ali and Nicholas Tse (main image), seeks to encourage an open conversation on this topic. This campaign is a platform for discussion — and perhaps some provocation.

The question of “what makes a man” has no one simple answer. Ermenegildo Zegna sees the notion of masculinity as one that is a state of mind, not a set of given rules. Men have been coming to terms with their inner weaknesses and strengths and are willing to take risks to embrace their own view of what masculinity is, even if this means going against traditional notions of what it means to be a man.

Ali and Tse are two strong men who are powerhouses in their respective fields. Ali won Best Supporting Actor Oscars for his roles in Green Book and Moonlight. Tse is a singer, songwriter, actor, entrepreneur and chef. His awards include Best Actor in the 30th Hong Kong Film Awards for his role in The Stool Pigeon. Since his acting debut, Tse has made nearly 50 movies. His cooking talent received recognition from the world’s most authoritative gourmet guide, Michelin. In 2016, Tse was honoured with the “Friend of Michelin” award, the first in the world.

Classic elegance

Sleek lines and playful contrasts set the tone for the Slim d’Hermès Titane, a new addition to the Slim d’Hermès collection. Its ultra-light titanium case, an anthracite dial lit up with Hermès orange and an ultra-thin Manufacture Hermès H1950 movement, forms a lively yet understated composition. This timepiece features an ultra-thin 39.5mm diameter case made from micro-blasted Grade 2 titanium topped by a circular satin bezel. Orange accents enliven the dial and match the burnishing on the matt graphite leather strap.

Piece of Piaget

At the press conference to promote her new movie Crazy Romance, Korean actress and Piaget brand ambassador Kong Hyo-Jin was seen wearing Piaget jewellery. The Rose earrings, layered Possession rings and an Extremely Lady watch with a turquoise dial looked exquisite on her.

1970s chic

Tommy Hilfiger’s brand ambassador Zendaya is the face of the TommyXZendaya eyewear collection, which celebrates the iconic 1970s with large frames and coloured lenses. Zendaya is riding high on the wings of her latest and controversial TV series Euphoria, which examines the dark side of high school students, and has been featured in Lancôme’s Idôle fragrance campaign.

Pamper yourself

Canvas understands that you may not have the time to go to a spa for a facial. The skincare company has made it easy for you to treat yourself with the Rose Otto Multi-intensive HydraEssence Mask. The sheet mask contains plant extracts and Rose Absolute that help to brighten and plump skin.

Brilliantly bold

A combination of luxury and innovation, TUMI’s 19 Degree Aluminum collection is striking up close or from a distance. This carry-on boasts a modern silhouette with strategically contoured angles where wear and tear, including nicks, dings and slight denting, is anticipated and carried with pride for a journey well-travelled. TUMI has introduced a unique, shimmering seasonal colour in 19 Degree Aluminum — Banyon Leaf. The bag features a reinforced framecase design, snap closures and die-cast corner caps for additional protection. Its interior is well organised and features a lightweight lining with embossed diamond pattern that complements its striking exterior. The bag is available in “International Carry-On” and “Extended Trip Packing Case” styles.
