Singapore-headquartered climate-tech venture Terrascope has signed The Climate Pledge, co-founded by Amazon, committing to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2040, the company announced on May 4.

Some 400 organisations have now signed The Climate Pledge, which was co-founded by Amazon and Global Optimism in 2019. The pledge is a commitment to reach the Paris Agreement 10 years early and be net-zero carbon by 2040.

The Terrascope platform was launched to the public in June 2022 with a mission to empower enterprises to decarbonise their business operations and supply chains.

To reach net zero, Terrascope will use its own carbon measurement and management software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform to conduct a carbon baselining and target-setting process.

Terrascope works with customers from various sectors, such as agriculture, food and beverage, manufacturing, luxury, transportation, real estate and the public sector. In collaboration with cloud computing platform Amazon Web Services (AWS), Terrascope is also scaling its offering to enterprises worldwide.

Today, Terrascope’s global presence includes teams across five countries.

Terrascope says it will identify key areas of impact within its material Scope 3 emissions — the indirect supply chain emissions that often make up the majority of a company’s carbon footprint — and prioritise the most impactful reduction efforts.

This is on top of its current efforts, such as renting 90% of its IT equipment from circular economy providers to reduce e-waste, extend the lifespan of IT equipment and ensure proper disposal of devices that can no longer be used or refurbished.

In addition, Terrascope says it emphasises essential business travel only, and favours remote work and lower-carbon travel options.
