SINGAPORE (Feb 12): Retirement Fund (Inc), also known as Kumpulan Wang Persaraan (Diperbadankan) or KWAP, has become the first pension fund in Malaysia to be a signatory of the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI).

As a signatory, the fund pledges to support and promote environmental, social and governance (ESG) investing programmes.

The fund is aiming to make 70% of its estimated RM125 billion ($42 billion) worth of assets under management (AUM) as ESG-compliant, compared with about 50% to 60% currently, according to KWAP CEO Wan Kamaruzaman Wan Ahmad.
