Genting buoyed by better-than-expected results, but Best World disappoints
(Nov 13): Genting Singapore released results for 3QFY2017 ended Sept 30 on the evening of Nov 6, beating expectations with a 35% y-o-y increase in earnings to $143.8 million, thanks to an improved operating margin and lower net impairments on receivables.

(Nov 13): Genting Singapore released results for 3QFY2017 ended Sept 30 on the evening of Nov 6, beating expectations with a 35% y-o-y increase in earnings to $143.8 million, thanks to an improved operating margin and lower net impairments on receivables. Revenue for the quarter rose a modest 8% to $629.9 million, driven by stronger VIP and premium mass business volume.

The counter opened 2.8% higher at $1.275 on Nov 7, and continued its ascent over the course of the week to hit $1.32 at closing on Nov 9.
