Here are five things you need to know this week:

1 The new CareShield Life disability insurance scheme is facing scrutiny. Nineteen Members of Parliament raised concerns on this issue when Parliament sat last week. They questioned whether the payout from the scheme is really sufficient. They also asked whether this scheme could “doubly penalise” women, who typically have lower Medisave account balances in their Central Provident Fund savings, from which the premiums are deducted. Yet, women have to pay higher premiums.
