SINGAPORE (May 28): “We don’t need their intelligence. I think we are quite intelligent ourselves.” — Malaysian Prime Minister Dr Mahathir Mohamad, after dissolving special institutions that were founded to advise the government.

Here are five things you need to know this week:

1 Singapore’s economy grew 4.4% y-o-y in 1Q2018, exceeding the 3.6% growth in the previous quarter. In an indication of better prospects ahead, the Ministry of Trade and Industry has narrowed its forecast for full-year GDP growth to between 2.5% and 3.5%, compared with the 1.5%-to-3.5% range previously announced.
