SINGAPORE (Dec 3): Tarek Obaid and Prince Turki Abdullah — who, according to a Washington Post article dated Nov 27, 2018 , were caught up in a Saudi royal household struggle with Crown Prince Mohamed bin Salman (MBS) —  were the co-conspirators of Jho Low in the scam against 1 Malaysia Development Bhd (1MDB).

Obaid and Turki were shareholders of PetroSaudi International (PSI), with whom 1MDB lost US$1.8 billion ($2.5 billion), much of which has been traced to their bank accounts as well as that of Jho Low and another director, Patrick Mahony.

Obaid, who also holds a Swiss passport, is very close to Turki, a son of the late King Abdullah. The prince’s standing took a hit after the death of his father, who was replaced by current King Salman in 2015.
