Thailand’s Advanced Info Service (AIS) plans to deploy Oracle Alloy and launch AIS Cloud, a locally owned and operated hyperscale cloud.

AIS Cloud will be deployed in two AIS data centres in Thailand. With Oracle Alloy, AIS Cloud can provide enterprises, the public sector and its managed service partners with access to more than 100 Oracle Cloud Infrastructure services, including the latest artificial intelligence capabilities.

By housing customer information within Thailand, AIS Cloud helps organisations address data residency and sovereignty requirements such as Thailand’s Personal Data and Protection Act and the Cybersecurity Act. Furthermore, Oracle Alloy allows customers to repatriate their existing cloud environments from overseas back to Thailand or move and modernise from on-premises to AIS Cloud deployed in AIS data centres in Thailand.

“Cloud technology plays a pivotal role in supporting the IT infrastructure modernisation and innovation for organisations in Thailand. Oracle Alloy has made it possible for AIS to become a locally owned and operated hyperscale cloud provider in the country,” says AIS’s CEO Somchai Lertsutiwong.

He continues: “This strategic collaboration between Oracle and AIS will not only accelerate AIS’s transformation from a Telco to a Techco but also unlock the immense potential for digital transformation and AI innovation for all organisations. AIS Cloud, powered by Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, will be key to transforming the core operations of businesses to capitalise on the market opportunities and create differentiation to take on the competition. This will significantly contribute to increasing the competitive advantage of Thai organisations, attracting investments, and supporting Thailand’s economic engine for sustainable growth.”

SAP helps Bank Danamon enhance its HR management

Bank Danamon Indonesia has integrated SAP Business AI solutions — including SAP’s generative AI copilot Joule — into its HR processes. The move aims to enhance the efficiency of its employee-related tasks, from planning to decision-making.

Since 2017, Bank Danamon has utilised SAP cloud technology through SAP SuccessFactors. By integrating SAP’s Business AI within SAP SuccessFactors into its HR processes, the bank expects to enhance employee engagement further using AI-generated insights and personalised candidate matching in recruitment, all accessed via a single HR platform. This centralisation of data helps mitigate data security risks, leveraging SAP’s security and database management systems.

“Bank Danamon prioritises quality service management, relying on our talent as an asset. The implementation of SAP Business AI supports our role as a strategic business partner, freeing our employees to perform more productive tasks beyond administrative tasks. SAP Business AI also helps to provide recommendations to improve talent management, impacting the company’s long-term goals,” says Handri Yustanto, business process and digitalisation head — corporate human resources at Bank Danamon.

Aiming to be a guardian of your health and safety, Google’s Pixel Watch 3 will come with the Loss of Pulse Detection feature to help you receive emergency care even if you are unable to make the call yourself.

When the feature detects a loss of pulse, the watch will turn on infrared and red lights to look for additional signs of a pulse while the motion sensor looks for movement. An AI-powered algorithm then analyses the combined data to confirm the absence of a pulse and trigger a check-in to get your response.

If you fail to respond and remain motionless, the watch escalates to an audio alarm and countdown. Should you still be unresponsive, the device automatically places a call to emergency services, alerting authorities to the critical situation and of your location.

The Loss of Pulse Detection feature is currently available in select European countries, with Google actively working to expand its availability globally
