SINGAPORE (Sept 22): Global eTrade Services (GeTS), a subsidiary of government focused e-solutions company CrimonLogic, has launched a freight forwarder community-centric platform named ‘hive’ to facilitate connectivity between freight forwarders, their business partners, and customs agencies.

The platform’s name stands for “highly interconnected & vibrant e-trade”, while the initiative is championed by the ASEAN Federation of Forwarders (AFFA) and Singapore Logistics Association (SLA).

hive, which is powered by GeTS, is designed to make trade easier, more accessible, and predictable by enabling businesses to meet trade compliance requirements for customs authorities worldwide, says the company in a press release on Friday.

Through the platform, hive members will be able to meet cross-border trade compliance requirements for over 50 customs authorities worldwide. They will also be able to connect with other platform members for collaboration on logistics projects.

Specifically, members of hive will be granted access to four services: Partner Discovery Service, a social media-like application to connect with new partners; Trade Compliance Services, which allows for and provides support to regulatory submissions; Cross Border Services, a centralised global trade platform with end-to-end compliance connectivity; and Member Management System, an optional module for associations and industry bodies to manage their portals and members.

Currently, more than 10,000 businesses from AFFA are using hive’s Partner Discovery Service.

GeTS says that its partnership with SLA, among those with other regional organisations, is set to bring even more businesses onto the platform.

“ASEAN is home to one of the most vibrant markets in the world, with Singapore being one of the leading economies of the region. In last year alone, GeTS has already connected more than 163,000 parties to each other, conducted more than 900,000 trade transactions and moved more than 71.5 million tonnes of cargo,” says Chong Kok Keong, CEO at GeTS and assistant CEO at CrimsonLogic.

“Now, we want to bring the power of GeTS to hive members. We want to change the way trade compliance is done; making cross-border trade easier, more accessible, and predictable,” he adds.
