SINGAPORE (Nov 12): The US held its midterm elections on Nov 6 and the results were as the market expected. 

The Republicans have kept its control on the Senate with 51 seats, compared with 44 seats for the Democrats. For the first time since the 2010 midterm elections, however, the Democrats took over the House with 223 seats, compared with 197 seats for the Republicans. 

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who is also poised to return as Speaker of the House, said the Democrats would be focusing on issues such as healthcare and rolling back some of the Republican tax cuts. Moreover, they are expected to investigate President Donald Trump, along with his administration.
