Singapore's Changi Airport, Southeast Asia's biggest airport, said its cargo volumes rose two percent last month, a turnaround after 13 months of declines and a signal of recovering global trade.

Changi Airport said the number of passengers in October also rose 6% year-on-year to 3.32 million, the third consecutive monthly rise, helped by regional traffic from Malaysia and Indonesia.

The number of passengers and cargo volumes have been hit in the past year by the global economic slowdown, hurting airlines such as Singapore Airlines (SIAL.SI) and top cargo carrier Korean Air Co (003490.KS), but both recently flagged signs of a recovery.
