Singapore's budget carrier Tiger Airways (TAHL.SI) carried 22% more passengers in December compared to the year-ago period, the company said on Monday.

Tiger Airways carried 555,000 passengers in December, up from 456,000 in the same month a year earlier, it said in a statement.

It had an average load factor of 91% across Asia and Australia last month, compared with 90% in December 2009.

For the 12 months to Dec 31, 2010, Tiger carried 5.8 million passengers, a 32% rise over 2009.
Tiger Airways, part-owned by Singapore Airlines (SIAL.SI), said it will take delivery of nine new Airbus A320 aircraft over the next 12 months, representing a fleet increase of 36 percent over its current fleet of 25 aircraft.
