Tiger Air reports 32% rise in passengers in 12 months to December; load factor in December reaches 91%

Tiger Airways has reported solid passenger volumes and load factors in December.

For the month of December, Tiger Air carried 555,000 passengers, a 22% increase compared to the same month last year. The average load factor across Asia and Australia for the month was 91%, an increase of 1 percentage point over December 2009.

From January 2010 to December 2010, a total of 5.8 million passengers flew with the bidget airline owned by Singapore Airlines, an increase of 32% over the 4.4 million passengers in the preceding 12 months. Average load factor for the 12-month period to December 2010 increased to 86%, an increase of 2 percentage points year-on-year.

Over the next 12 months, the group will take delivery of an additional 9 new Airbus A320 aircraft, representing a fleet increase of 36% over the current combined fleet of 25 aircraft.

Tiger Air will announce its financial results for the third quarter of the current financial year (quarter ended 31 December 2010) on 28 January 2011.
