Goldman Sachs <GS.N> is scouting for an executive to manage its operations in Asia to succeed the region’s incumbent Michael Evans, the Financial Times said.
Evans has also been the co-chairman of Goldman’s business standards committee, which was formed in May when the bank was under pressure from US regulators, FT said.
Evans, who has been the chairman of Goldman Sachs Asia since 2004, has been keen to remain in New York in a senior position, the paper said.
Goldman Chief Executive Lloyd Blankfein has not yet named Evans as a co-president, the paper said, citing people familiar with the matter.
However, Blankfein might grant Evans’ request to stay in the United States. Both have discussed creating a job that could keep Evans, one of Goldman’s three vice-chairmen, engaged in the bank’s Asia businesses, the people told the paper.
Goldman declined to comment on the FT report to Reuters.
