EMS Energy says subsidiary Engineering & Marine Services (EMS) has secured a US$12 million ($15.7 million) contract from Koastal Industries to design, manufacture and commission a pipelay system as part of the conversion of crane vessel Truong Sa to a dynamically-positioned pipelay vessel by Vietnam oil company Joint Venture Vietsovpetro.
Koastal Industries is a controlling shareholder of EMS Energy and Ting Teck Jin, the Executive Chairman and CEO of EMS Energy, is the controlling shareholder and managing director of the Koastal Group.
As part of the conversion, EMS Energy will supply a complete pipelay system base on a modular design complete with longitudinal and transverse conveyors, line-up table, support rollers, with tensioning capacity of 200-tonne as well as an abandon and recovery winch. Five units of 40-tonne crane davits are also included.
The vessel is scheduled for delivery in 12 months.
