Asiatravel.com Holdings, the pan-Asia online travel and hotel reservation service provider, recorded a 16.7% increase in revenue to $83.9 million for its financial year ended 30 September 2010 (FY2010).
Higher operating expenses due to the group’s business expansion in the year however shaved its net profit down to $2.1 million, a decrease of 63.8%.
In FY2010, the group aggressively introduced new products across all its core destinations, established new sales channels and stepped up its branding exposure and exercise.
The group revenue increase are mainly due to new products such as the online all-inclusive tour package, stand alone tours and theme park attraction tickets launched in the 2nd half of FY2010 and the launch of its online B2B platform for all its products including its core hotel reservation products in the 4Q of FY2010 targeting both the online and offline retail agency networks.
The increase in overall revenue despite the lower revenue from its core hotel reservation service from the group core online B2C channel in some of the group key destinations.
