Singapore shares choppy as bouts of light selling absorbed by buyers hopeful prices could head even higher with market flush with liquidity.

STI +0.1% at 3302.29 vs 3313.34 intraday high, 3289.04 low, likely to end below 3320.

“We had not expected 3300 to be reached well before the year-end, but in the context of this year's economic boom with (Singapore's) GDP set to grow 15% and corporate earnings surging 35% in the third quarter, most stocks have not run ahead of fundamentals,” says AmFraser Securities strategist Najeeb Jarhom.

Gainers outnumbering decliners by slight margin in broad market. Among STI components, banks, palm plays, Jardine group, developers, transport stocks mixed, while rig builders and commodity shares higher.
