Mainboard-listed Sinotel Technologies, the provider of wireless telecommunications infrastructure and solutions in China, says the group has been qualified by China Broadcast Corporation (CBC) as a vendor to supply and build the CMMB (China Mobile Multimedia Broadcast) network.
The CMMB network is an extension of traditional television broadcasting systems and captures its audience through mobile devices while on the move. Broadcasting under the “Jing Cai” brand name, CBC has already launched various divisions using the CMMB network that now includes movie channel, an emergency broadcast system, access to real-time financial markets, traffic information and other services.
The network has received the endorsement of many leading mobile electronics companies and has produced mobile phones, GPS devices, mobile TVs and other products specifically for CMMB.
Through a strategic alliance with China Mobile, the network now spans across 330 cities in China. China Mobile is now promoting TD+CMMB mobile phones though international brands such as Motorola, Samsung, Nokia, LG, Dopod and Lenovo etc.
By 2012, the CMMB network will cover all cities at or above the prefectural level and the top 100 counties. By 2015, the CMMB network will reach over 90% of the population and have over 200 million subscribers.
