Singapore shares higher after Wall Street’s overnight rally, but advance no where close to US gains as investors wary of plowing in more money ahead of tomorrow’s key US jobs report, according to Dow Jones.
STI +0.7% at 3,002.09, not likely to challenge year-to-date high of 3,043. Market breadth at 5 gainers for every decliner.
“With earnings clarity showing signs of dimming, the market tone has also turned decisively more muted,” says head of OCBC Investment Research Carmen Lee, but notes low valuations supportive.
Among blue chips, key gainers include Jardine C&C (C07.SG), +3.1% at $34.20, Jardine Strategic (J37.SG), +2.1% at US$24.92 ($33.6), NOL (N03.SG), +1.6% at $1.97, CapitaMalls Asia (JS8.SG), +1.4% at $2.14.
