Alan Koh, a former managing director with Morgan Stanley in Asia, will be joining Standard Chartered Plc as global head of energy sales, according to a note by Commodity Appointments, a placement consultant.
Koh was one of 212 executives globally appointed as managing directors in December, according to Morgan Stanley’s website. Standard Chartered corporate affairs manager Romany Parakrama couldn’t be reached by telephone and didn’t immediately respond to an e-mailed request for comment today.

Standard Chartered is expanding its energy-trading business after hiring Arun Murthy as global head of energy from Lehman Brothers Holdings Inc. in 2008. The bank hired Karan Chabria, formerly a fuel oil trader in Singapore at Mercuria Energy, in July as global head of products trading.
Andrew Arthur, a coal and iron ore trader at Australia & New Zealand Banking Group, has joined Societe Generale SA in Singapore, and RWE AG’s John Rennie has joined EDF Trading as a senior Asia-Pacific coal and freight originator in Singapore, the recruitment specialist said.
