CSC Holdings says wholly-owned subsidiary CS Construction & Geotechnic (CSCG) had been served with a writ of summons filed by Penta-Ocean Construction Company in the High Court of the Republic of Singapore.

CSCG is the sub-contractor of Penta-Ocean in the Singapore Parallel Train Project at Jurong Island where it was carrying out piling works for the Utilities Civil Works and Interconnects & Tankage Main Civil Works.

In the writ of summons, Penta-Ocean has claimed the sum of $10,337,342.64, which is said to include recovery of monies paid to CSCG under the Adjudication Determination.

By an Adjudication Determination dated Aug 5 obtained by CSCG under the Building and Construction Industry Security of Payment Act, Penta-Ocean was directed to pay, amongst other things, the adjudicated amount and interest to CSCG.

On Aug 10, Penta-Ocean duly paid CSCG the adjudicated amount which CSCG is unable to disclose by law.

CSC Holdings says it has sought legal advice on the matter and will be vigorously resisting the claim, adding it is unable to assess the potential impact of the claim at this juncture.
