The following companies may have unusual price changes in Singapore trading today. Share prices are from the previous close. Singapore’s Straits Times Index gained 0.2% to 3,006.76.
Hyflux (HYF SP): Singapore’s biggest water treatment services provider said second-quarter profit rose 5% to $27.3 million from a year earlier. Hyflux declined 2.2% to $3.13.
Kim Eng Holdings (KEH SP): The Singapore-based brokerage said second-quarter profit slumped 74% to $9.9 million from a year earlier. Kim Eng was unchanged at $1.79.
Neptune Orient Lines (NOL SP): Southeast Asia’s biggest container carrier reported a second-quarter net income of US$99.7 million ($134.9 million), compared with a US$146.2 million loss a year earlier. That’s the company’s first profit in seven quarters after moving more boxes at higher rates amid a recovery in the global economy. Neptune Orient climbed 1% to S$2.13.
StarHub (STH SP): Singapore’s second-largest phone company said second-quarter profit fell 25% to $58.1 million from a year earlier. StarHub lost 0.4% to $2.33.
Tiger Airways Holdings (TGR SP): The budget carrier partly-owned by Singapore Airlines (SIA SP), posted a first-quarter profit of $1.9 million, compared with a loss of $6 million a year earlier, as it flew more passengers amid a rebound in air travel. Tiger advanced 4.2% to $2.24.
Venture Corp. (VMS SP): Singapore’s biggest publicly-traded electronics manufacturing services provider said second-quarter profit increased to $45.8 million from $35.9 million in the previous quarter. The company reported a net income of $60.9 million a year earlier, which included an exceptional gain of $25 million. Venture gained 0.1% to $9.21.
