Singapore’s benchmark Straits Times Index rose 0.18% on Wednesday to 2,835.51 points.

Singapore stocks may fall on Thursday after US shares extended their losses overnight, as investors stayed on the sidelines amid conflicting economic data. US private sector employment rose by a paltry amount in June, underscoring concerns about a weak labour market.

Mapletree Investments, a real-estate firm wholly-owned by Singapore state investor Temasek (TEM.UL), said today it hopes to raise $1 billion from an industrial REIT initial public offering. The industrial REIT portfolio will contain only Singapore properties and initially have a value of $1.7 billion.

Darco Water Technologies, the provider of integrated engineering and water treatment solutions, said it recently secured 22 industrial turnkey projects worth an aggregate of $8.6 million from customers in the electronic, semi-conductor and solar power manufacturing facilities across Malaysia, Taiwan, and Singapore.

Lian Beng Group, the homegrown building construction company, has clinched a $88.28 million contract to build a condominium development located at Spottiswoode Park Road. Awarded by UOL Development, the contract will cover the construction of one 36-storey residential tower, a six-storey carpark, swimming pool, and other ancillary facilities.

Keppel Integrated Engineering (KIE), the environmental technology and engineering arm of Keppel Corporation, opened Singapore’s newest Waste-to-Energy (WTE) plant, the first to be built under the National Environment Agency (NEA)’s Public-Private Partnership (PPP) initiative. The Keppel Seghers Tuas WTE Plant has the capacity to treat 800 tonnes of solid waste a day to generate more than 20MW of green energy.

Parkway Holdings (PARM.SI) may be in focus after the local press said India healthcare firm Fortis (FOHE.BO) is likely to decide before July 8 whether to make a counterbid for the Singapore healthcare operator. July 8 is the last day for shareholders to accept a partial takeover bid by Malaysian state investor Khazanah. Singapore’s securities regulator had given Fortis until July 30 to make a decision.

Singapore Exchange (SGXL.SI) said Gan Seow Ann and Muthukrishnan Ramaswami will become co-presidents of the company following an organisation restructure. Both were previously senior executive vice-presidents.

Informatics Education (INFO.SI) said a quality certification that helps it recruit overseas students for its Singapore campus had expired. It has applied for another certification but has not yet received it.

China Auto Electronics (CHIN.SI) has appointed Wang Laisheng as executive chairman to replace Rudolph A. Schlais Jr.
