China Kunda Technology Holdings, the provider of precision moulds and plastic injection parts for the automotive and consumer electronics industries, says its wholly-owned subsidiary, Kunda Mould (Shenzhen) Company, has formed a Joint Venture (JV) with Shanghai Bori Mould Co.
To be dubbed Shanghai Kunda-Bori Precision Mould Co., the JV will specialise in the repair and maintenance of moulds and the manufacture of small-scale moulds.
China Kunda will take a majority 70% stake in the JV, through a capital injection of RMB2.1 million ($428,000). The remaining 30% stake valued at RMB0.9 million will be financed through an injection of Shanghai Bori’s existing production equipment.
China Kunda says the addition of this new JV will enhance the group’s presence and geographic reach within China. China Kunda now has a foothold in four of the major automotive manufacturing centres in China namely, Shenzhen (automotive moulds), Beijing (plastic automotive components), Shanghai (automotive moulds and repair) and the recently announced Changchun JV (automotive moulds).
The Changjiang River Delta region in Shanghai, where Kunda-Bori is located, is one of the key automotive manufacturing centres within China. The region is home to some of China Kunda’s existing international automotive component customers including Mahle Group, Mecaplast Group and Roechling Group. These manufacturers in turn supply automotive components to major automakers like General Motors and Volkswagen.
