Singapore’s Sembcorp Industries (SCIL.SI) said on Monday it has signed a memorandum of understanding to develop and build a US$200 million ($276.8 million) water treatment facility in United Arab Emirates.
The plant will be able to produce around 30 million imperial gallons of fresh water from seawater per day, raising Sembcorp’s total seawater processing capacity in the UAE to 130 million imperial gallon a day.

The facility is expected to be operational in 2013.
