ecoWise Holdings says it posted a loss attributable to equity holders to a loss of $0.53m in the three months to April 30 (2QFY2010) compared to a profit of $0.43 million in 2QFY2009.

Group revenue for the second quarter decreased 28.2% to $3.64 million from $5.06 million compared to 2QFY2009.

The decrease in group revenue was mainly attributable to lower quantity of used copper slag collected from shipyards, lower collection fees charged to shipyards customers, lower operation fees from its associate due to the reduction in processing activities in copper slag and the decline in activity level at its Lim Chu Kang horticulture materials recycling park.

Loss attributable to equity holders for the half-year ended 30 April 2010 (1HFY2010) was $0.41 million compared to a profit in $0.85 million in 1HFY2009.

Group revenue for the half-year decreased by 1.5% to $10.04 million from $10.19 million for the corresponding period of last year.

ecoWise says the decrease was partially offset by revenue in 1QFY2010 from the subsidiary in Wuhan (equity-accounted associate in 1HFY2009) which was converted from a coal-fired power plant into a biomass co-generation plant in January.
