Renewable Energy Asia Group, formerly known as Superior Fastening Technology, has bagged a US$20 million ($27.6 million) master contract to manufacture wind turbine components for a European turbine maker.
Under the terms of the contract, Renewable Energy will manufacture, supply and deliver up to 600 sets of steel casing for the power generating system of the turbine, based on monthly purchase orders to be received under the master contract. The components will be delivered in phases to the turbine maker’s factories in Europe, the USA and China,. The contract is expected to be fulfilled by the end of the year.
REA Group manufacturing capabilities cover a wide range of wind turbine components and sub-systems including wind turbine towers, nacelle casing and other structural components. The group’s flagship production plant in Haimen City, Jiangsu, China, has a total land area of over 170,000 sqm and a total built-in area of over 52,000 sqm.
Equipped with computer control machines, heavy cranes and logistics and enterprise resource management systems, the Haimen facility is able to produce up to 100,000 tonnes of wind farm structural components or 1,200 wind turbine towers a year.
The contract is expected to have a positive impact on the group’s financial year ending 31 March 2011 and comes one week after the company announced that it had secured a concession to develop a Green Energy Park in Zhenglanqi, Inner Mongolia, and three weeks after it was awarded a $7.4 million deal to manufacture wind turbine towers for a wind farm located in Huaishuo, Inner Mongolia.
