Pteris Global has won a $53 million contract by Mumbai International Airport Limited to design and build the baggage handling system for Mumbai International Airport Terminal 2.
Also known as Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport, it is India’s busiest airport catering to 25 million passengers and 530,000 tonnes of cargo during 2008-09. It was voted the best airport in India (2008) by the Airport International Council, a body of operators which collectively manage over 1,600 airports worldwide.
This is a full turn-key project with Pteris Global designing and building both the airport arrival and departure systems. This fully automated baggage system is designed to cater to a capacity of 40 million passengers per annum.
A key highlight of this system will be the incorporation of Pteris Global’s suite of automation controls and system software; which forms the brainchild of the entire baggage handling system and developed in-house by our team of automation and software engineers.
The project is expected to take 2 years to complete.
