Thomson Medical Centre, the private healthcare provider for women and children, says it posted a 22% y-o-y rise in net profit after tax to $7.2 million for the six months ending Feb 28 2010.
The improved performance was led by higher contribution from both its core business segments of Hospital Operations and Ancillary Services and Specialised and Other Services.
Revenue from Hospital Operations and Ancillary Services increased 10.8% y-o-y to $27.7 million in 1H FY2010, driven by higher inpatient admissions and deliveries, as well as demand for outpatient services.
Revenue from Specialised and Other services increased 42.7% y-o-y to $10 million as a result of higher patient load in the group’s network of Thomson Women’s Clinics and Thomson Women Cancer Centre.
Thomson Women’s Clinics contributed $5.4 million while Thomson Women Cancer Centre contributed $1.4 million. The group’s two-month old Thomson Paediatric Centre has also started contributing to revenue.
The group’s balance sheet remained strong, with cash and cash balances and fixed deposits of $20.8 million as at Feb 28. The group generated $7.3 million operating cash flow in 1HFY2010, a y-o-y increase of 13.9% from $6.4 million in 1HFY2009.
The board has declared a one-tier tax-exempt interim dividend of 1.2 cents per share.
