The Singapore Exchange reported that total securities trading value in March was up 48% year-on-year to $30.4 billion, reflecting the return of investors’ confidence and interests.

Securities trading value on Catalist was $378 million, nine times higher year-on-year, the SGX said in its monthly statistical report.

In the derivatives and commodities markets, SGX said overall volume dipped 2% due to muted volatility in the market. However, trading of equity index options more than doubled to 28,699 contracts year-on-year.

Trading in SICOM rose 54% to 36,701 contracts year-on-year, signalling the increasing interest in commodities.
