Tiger Airways Holdings announced it has appointed a new managing director for its Australian operations. In the coming months, a smooth transition will be facilitated between incumbent Shelley Roberts and Crawford Rix, who is currently serving notice as Managing Director of UK low cost carrier bmibaby. The exact date of Rix’s joining will be announced when it is determined later.

Rix has extensive aviation experience with a career spanning more than 30 years. He has held senior appointments in several UK airlines including Dan Air, British Midland, bmi regional and bmibaby. During his four years as Managing Director at bmibaby, he brought the airline to the top position in the UK in terms of reliability and punctuality among low cost carriers.

Reporting to Tony Davis, President and CEO of Tiger Airways Holdings, Rix will be charged with leading Tiger Airways Australia in the budget carriers next phase of development.

Crawford will be relocating to Melbourne with his family over the coming months.
