Singapore’s benchmark Straits Times Index (.FTSTI) rose 0.37% to close at 2,693.62 points yesterday. The Dow Industrials closed below 10,000 for the first time since November last night as investors sold bank shares due to heightened concerns about the euzo zone’s sovereign debt troubles. The following stocks may see unusual trading volume today.

SingTel (STEL.SI), Southeast Asia's biggest telecoms firm, reported an 18% rise in quarterly profit, roughly in line with market expectations and driven by strong growth in regional mobile customers.

Genting Singapore’s (GENS.SI) casino, the city-state's first, may open as early as this weekend after the government granted it a casino licence. The earlier-than-expected opening would allow it to get customers during the Chinese New Year holiday.

Engineering services firm Boustead (BTSS.SI) reported a 15.5% drop in attributable third quarter net profit as revenues from energy-related and real estate engineering services fell.

Hsu Fu Chi International, the manufacturer and retailer of candies, pastries and sachima, says net profit for 2Q10 increased 50.5% to RMB 236 million ($49.2 million) while revenue decreased 2.4% to RMB 1,312 million.

China Animal Healthcare
, the manufacturer of animal drugs, says net profit for 4Q2009 increased 40.5% to net profit to RMB48.5 million ($10.1 million) while revenue rose 36.2% to RMB132.5 million.

Cerebos Pacific, the food and health supplements manufacturer, says it posted a 22% rise in net profit of $36.8 million for 1QFY2009/10 from $30.1 million in the previous corresponding period. This was achieved on a 24% higher turnover of $258.6 million.

Shipping trust Rickmers Maritime says charter revenue registered an improvement of 29% to US$38.13 million ($54.2 million) for 4Q and will distribute 0.57 US cents per unit for 4Q2009, representing a payout of 14% of income available for distribution.

Longcheer Holdings, the designer of mobile phones in China, has reported a record revenue of RMB 1.04 billion ($216 million), for 2Q. Net profit rose to RMB39.1 million, an increase of 30% year-on-year.

Keppel Offshore & Marine (Keppel O&M) specialised shipbuilding arm, Keppel Singmarine, has clinched three newbuilding contracts totaling about $140 million including one by Dutch dredging and marine contractor, Royal Boskalis Westminster N.V. for the construction of a 159-metre long rock dumping fall pipe vessel to be completed in late 2011.

Aztech Group says it posted a 26% rise in net profit to $15.4 million in FY 2009 from $12.2 million in FY 2008 although revenue increased marginally at 1.4% to $280 million.

Asia Enterprises Holding, the regional distributor of steel products to industrial end-users, reported a 9% increase in net profit to $8.2 million for the 12 months ended 31 December 2009 (FY2009), on the back of an improved performance in the second half of the year.
Group revenue however declined 18% to $145.6 million.

KSH Holdings says it achieved a turnaround in 3Q with net profit after tax of $5.2 million on the back of $82.5 million in revenue.

ASL Marine Holdings says wholly-owned subsidiary, ASL Shipyard, has secured a new shipbuilding contract from an oversea customer worth $38.5 million for one unit of Diving Support Vessel with firefighting standby and rescue capabilities. The vessel is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter 2011.

BBR Holdings (S), the specialist engineering group, has secured a $42 million contract from Yang Kee Holdings to construct Phase 1 of the Yang Kee Logistics Chemical Hub at Jurong Pier.

PEC, the plant and terminal engineering specialist, reported a 50% increase in net profit attributable to shareholders to $16.3 million for H1 despite a slight decrease in revenue by 3% to $213.4 million due mainly to lower revenue contribution from maintenance activities.

Gems TV Holdings, the television home shopping retailer of genuine gemstone jewellery, says net loss in 2Q10 narrowed to US$6.3 million ($8.9 million).
