GP Batteries posts 8% fall in revenue to $200m

GP Batteries International says turnover for the three months ended 31 December 2009 was $200 million or about 8% below the corresponding period of last year. But the decline in turnover has narrowed over the past quarters.

Sales of rechargeable batteries registered a decrease for the three months ended 31 December 2009 by 17% while sales of primary batteries, especially the cylindrical carbon zinc batteries, rose by 12 %.

Profit after income tax was $9.73 million.
