Singapore’s Straits Times Index climbed 1% to 2,747.42 as of the 12:30 p.m. trading break, snapping losses of 1.3% in the past three days, reported Bloomberg. Eight stocks advanced for each that fell on the 30-member gauge.
Stocks on the measure trade at 14.7 times estimated earnings, compared with about 10 times at the start of 2009, according to data compiled by Bloomberg.
The following shares were among the most active in the market.
Neptune Orient Lines (NOL SP), Southeast Asia’s biggest container carrier, climbed 1.2% to $1.75. Morgan Stanley reiterated its “equal-weight” rating on the stock and lifted its share-price forecast to $1.85 from $1.50. Ezra Holdings (EZRA SP) surged 6.8% to $2.21 after OCBC Investment Research upgraded the stock to “buy” from “hold”.
Raffles Education Corp. (RLS SP) gained 1.3% to 40.5 cents. Singapore Airlines (SIA SP) climbed 4.5% to $14.28. Straits Asia Resources (SAR SP), the coal miner part-owned by Thailand’s PTT Plc, rose 3.2% to $2.24. Tiger Airways Holdings (TGR SP) added 1.4% to $1.47. Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Holdings (YZJ SP) gained 2.9% to $1.06.
